I read all the time … and this page is dedicated to the books that I currently have checked out. I may also keep a list of books I’d like to read on this page! Please feel free to leave me suggestions in my comments if you’re reading a book that you think I might like!
*Cat’s Eye by Margaret Atwood - A woman goes back to her old stomping grounds (sound familiar?) and relearns who she is. It’s told from two different time frames - Elaine as a child, growing up in Toronto - and Elaine as an adult revisiting Toronto. I can’t put the book down and absolutely recommend it. I love Atwood’s style of writing and so this book has only made me love her more!
*Dr. Seuss & Mr. Geisel: A Biography by Judith & Neil Morgan - I finished this 384 page book in less than a week. I loved Dr. Seuss’ stories growing up and loved his story as an adult.
*My Life by Bill Clinton - started out a very good read, but slowly petered out into mundane Watergate details that I had no lust for. I actually put the book down to pick up the Atwood book instead. I rarely put a book down but I can’t drag myself through the rest of Clinton’s autobiography.
*The Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus - a snarky retelling of Odysseus’ journey in Penelope’s and the 12-virgins voices. I loved this book and couldn’t put it down … I think I finished it in less than two days. Very good read!
*Lone Star: The Extraordinary Life and Times of Dan Rather by Alan Weisman - I grew up with a huge crush on Dan Rather and halfway through this book I fell out of love with him. He wasn’t who I thought he was, but the book was well-written and easy to read. I wish it had concentrated more on who he was outside of the newsroom, so maybe I’ll try his autobiography instead.
*Possible Side Effects by Augusten Burroughs - HIGHLY amusing book. Quick to read and very funny. I am going to have to read some more Burroughs now!
