Thursday Thirteen, VII

I have tried FOUR times now to copy Blue Monday and share 13 random links I have bookmarked but WordPress continues to spaz each time I do so you’re getting a to-do list anyway. *nods*

13 Things I’ll Do Before Thursday 13, VIII
1. sew more curtains for work (I’m almost done with the Ambassador Ballroom’s curtains but still have the Champion & the Blue ballrooms to do.)
2. see Mr.E. He actually asked me on a DATE for tomorrow night so we’re going to see Pirates of the Caribbean: World’s End and having a late Happy Hour tomorrow night.
3. see Willie Nelson in concert … at the Clark County Amphitheater on Saturday night with friends. I’m VERY excited about this!
4. hang out with my best friend MamaDee and her BabyDee (and probably DadDee) on Sunday night for dinner. She needs some entertainment and I need some lovin’ from my best friend!
5. Visit Cute Overload at least five times. I love that website and it always makes me smile!
6. go grocery shopping; I haven’t done this since I moved and I am OUT of food … time to grocery shop
7. call to get my contact prescription so I can ORDER more eyeballs
8. call ScubaSteve just to check in
9. start planning to sew my own curtains! Yes, I’m getting ambitious!
10. clean off my desk
11. double-check when I get to register for classes that start September 24th
12. burn photographs to CDs so that my laptop runs a bit faster
13. make a pro’s & con’s list about the boys that I’m currently dating & stuck between

Thirteen of My Favorite Pieces of Art
the-singing-butler.jpg
1. Jack Vettriano’s The Singing Butler - I own this one; my parents bought it for me for a wedding gift and even though the wedding didn’t last, this piece of art always makes me happy

2. Jack Vettriano’s Dance Me To the End of Love - I own this one; it was another wedding gift from two married members of my wedding party. MrsDesigner wrote something amazingly beautiful on the back about our love lasting longer than the sands of time, and it makes me cry to re-read it, but this piece of art WILL dance me to the end of love.

3. Jack Vettriano’s Back Where You Belong - I own this one; TheEx gave it to me for a birthday present one year. (Do you see a theme with these yet?) I always hang this one near the door of where I live. One day I will be lifted up by my man like this and be back where I belong.

4. Jack Vettriano’s The Watlzers - I own this one; TheEx gave it to me for the last birthday that I spent with him. It is beautiful and I love to dance, so I am happy with this one.

5. V. VanGogh’s Starry Night - has always been in my favorites list … one day I will own a huge print of this and hang it somewhere special.

6. M.C. Escher’s “Three Worlds”; look, you really can see three worlds in this piece!

7. Georgia O’Keef’s White Rose & Larkspur; yes, all her flowers look like vaginas, but hey, they’re gorgeous vaginas! (Wow, I can’t wait to see my searching stats for this line!)

adams_oak.jpg
8. Ansel Adams’ Oak Tree, Sunset City; inspires me and my own tree-photography. Gorgeous tree.

9. The Great Wave at Kanagawa; I’m not normally a fan of this style of art, but I would never turn away owning this piece for my bathroom.

10. Steve Hanks’ Take Five; I danced ballet for a couple of years and so ballet art always draws me in. This piece makes me want to dance again, and then take five to rest. : )

leonard_cohen.jpg
11. Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen; this is my favorite song in my entire life. I can never get enough of this song, listen to it all the time, and even love most of the covers that are done by other artists.

fleetwoodmacc1.jpg
12. Fleetwood Mac; my favorite band of all time. I listen to them while I’m driving, while I’m reading, while I’m writing, while I’m getting ready to go to sleep, anytime is time for Mac!

rah.jpg
13. Roots by Alex Haley; amazing book. It’s one of those books I can read over and over and over again. I’ve never watched the movie version because I must keep my own Kunte Kinte in my head.

Weekend at Bean’s!

Well, I had a good weekend in Corvallis … I spent a lot of time with MissBean & MissWeen. I’ve known these women since I was in high school. We lived together during college, and spent a lot of time together even after we stopped living together. MissBean lives in Corvallis, MissWeen lives in Roseburg, and MissGee lives here in Portland … so we don’t see each other very often anymore. It was a productive weekend for MissDee’s baby cross-stitch (she is being induced tonight at 8pm … I plan on being up most of the night coaching her through labor and cannot wait!) and it was relaxing. Good to see you girls! : )I uploaded some of my favorite Corvallis pictures (no faces but mine) if you’re interested in checking them out!

Corvallis Favorites

Aaand, I’m finally getting my Cast of Characters page up & going! Hopefully we can all keep track of who is in my life now! ; )

I need to get my drink on!

* For the second day this week I haven’t been to work. The children are sick and so mom has been sticking around to take care of them. It’s okay by me since I’ve had a low-grade migraine all week long. I think that it’s due to dehydration and so I had two bottles of water and two huge cups of tea (one with caffeine, one without) and I am starting to feel better.

*I love this picture … I didn’t take it … A Hat Full of Sky did.

*I may be going with MissBuckey (my gosh, I use a different name for her each time I write about her. Today, after I post this, I am going to add a “cast of characters” to my about me sections and then try to keep everyone straight!) to a Portland Beavers baseball game tonight. A guy we met a couple of months ago has decided that we were worthy of his tickets (since he can’t go) and so we’re going to see a bunch of crazy Portlanders in costume and the Beavers play Salt Lake. :) It should be fun.

*MissPea has a really really hard midterm today around 4pm so she could use your smart thoughts.

*I got my official acceptance letter (on paper) from Portland State earlier this week. I have a measels & mumps form to fill out & return and then I’m enrolled. September 24th baby! :)

*Lots of times, I make no sense.

*Ohhh! I think … and this is almost pure speculation … that I am over Mr.E. I haven’t been feeling it around him lately. I’ve stopped calling/texting him to see what he does. I’ll keep you updated. He’s cute and sweet and smart and incredibly kind to me, but I just ain’t feeling that “it”. *shrug* It’s called “dating” for a reason. I’m glad that he and I both decided that we didn’t want to try anything serious though because I’d feel bad not calling him now. LOL

*I have two blogs. This one here and then my mental & emotional health blog. I actually also have a LiveJournal that I don’t use so much anymore and I post lots of survey meme things on my MySpace. :) I write a lot. A. Lot.

*Did any of you watch the Will Ferrell video I posted yesterday? I watched it again today and laughed like a nut. I also sent the link to my mom because I think that she will enjoy it as well.

*That’s it.

Who are you calling a cootie queen, you lint licker!

I just ate some chicken noodle soup. I wish it were homemade with vegetables and thick egg noodles, but it was just canned Albertson’s stuff.

I got my official acceptance letter from Portland State yesterday. I also was accepted at Oregon State (go Beavs!) but since I already have a degree from OSU, I’m sticking with Portland. School starts on September 24th and I’m already counting down. No, seriously. I’ve already been scanning stuff for studying abroad as well.

Last night some friends and I went to an arcade that served beer and lets bands play. The bands last night were AWFUL (think bad American Idol auditions) but playing Tetris, Ms. PacMan and Pole Position with a Black Butte Porter (and later a PBR) in hand was a blast. Serious fun. I stayed out much too late but had a good time and Mr.E even let me stomp in the puddles (soaking my pants and my super-cute shoes) on the way back to his car.

My friends and I have been watching this Will Ferrell video; The Landlord over and over lately. Every time I need to laugh about something, I pull up this video and just laugh my ass off at it. Seriously, I am going to teach my children to say things like Pearl does. HI-larious. No, really; I will teach my children to ask for their liquids with “I need to get my drink on!”

Rolling Stone’s Rock & Roll Daily blog was great today. I don’t normally read that blog, but today’s post with Top 25 Songs with a Secret listed was both amusing and informative. ““Lola” – The Kinks: Thought to be about a beautiful woman, actually inspired by an incident in which Kinks’ manager Robert Wace spent a drunken night dancing with a transvestite he mistook for a woman.”

Have you seen the latest Orbit commercial? That’s where my subject line is from; the way the woman says “lint licker” always makes me giggle. The commercial makes me smile and the raspberry mint flavored gum is pretty good, too. I found the video for those of you who have found me through searching FOR the video!

I figured out how to put up a site-meter yesterday. Now I can stalk all of you who read about me. I need a life sometimes … yeah, I think that’s about it for today.
