Why oh why!?!?!

Why is it that the only day I call in sick with a migraine from hell:
a) my SheBoss leaves her cell phone on my desk and I have to leave a voicemail (which confuses the HeBoss) that she doesn’t get,
b) a construction crew starts work on the huge apartment complex immediately behind my bedroom window and I can’t sleep through it?
Seriously; Murphy … you and your laws suck ass.
HeBoss called to wonder where I was and I had to re-explain why I’m not in at my desk slaving away right now. I felt bad, but he wasn’t upset, just confused. I took Friday off and so missing Wednesday AND Friday will stress me out a bit. Unfortunately I’m missing dance class tonight … so maybe I can get one of the dancers to teach me the first class’ worth before next week. Maybe. If not oh well. *shrug*

I had a dream about an ex-boyfriend last night. It was an ex from when >TheEx and I took our one-year break in college. He was two years younger than me (and I was a Freshman in college!) and needless to say, it didn’t last. But yeah, it was a weird dream. I woke up and wanted it to continue. LOL Strangeness.

I must return to vegetation in my chair while I watch the last episode of Wonderfalls while scratching my 10-day-old peeling sunburn and then I think I’ll watch Under the Tuscan Sun and it will make me cry.

Edited to add: I called The Oregon Gymnastics Academy about their part-time (3:3o-9pm Mon, 9am-3:30pm Sat & Sun) customer service position and have an interview next Monday at 4pm. I’m excited about it, the woman I spoke with sounded very peppy and gymnastic-y. : )

i'm confused, i'm working, i'm watchin' it, i'm wanting, i'm laughing

Where I’m At

These are the photographs of my new house. It was a mess when I took the pictures and it’s actually really clean now. I had to do something to destress myself yesterday evening.

Today I worked 11 hours. I sewed 11.5′ (yes, FOOT) panels to make custom curtains for the ballrooms. These curtains are custom-made … custom-made by ME. I rock at the sewing machine (straight lines, at least) today. And tomorrow. And probably Thursday and Friday as well. I am exhausted but it was productive and made me feel like I really was doing something.

I’m still in a dark place but am taking the itty-bitty beams of light I can find and stretching them out.

Edited to add: Oh, and I have the SOREST boobs ever tonight. NEVER have my boobs been this sore. SERIOUSLY. They are also more swollen and the biggest I think I’ve ever seen them. EvAr. Double-you tea eff, mate!?!? I wanted PMS on top of everything, I really did. *nods*

i'm hurting, i'm watchin' it, i'm photographing

Monday’s a B*tch, II

Green Eggs & Ham

1. Who’s your favorite Ninja Turtle? I don’t remember much about the Ninja Turtles. I loved Splinter the rat, so I guess that would be on my favorite. I also loved April’s yellow jumpsuit and always wanted to dress up as her at Halloween, so yeah. I’m not so much of a turtle fan, but do enjoy the other characters.

2. Do you have a green thumb? I used to think that I would kill anything I tried to grow, but I have two huge plants, and one smaller one, that I haven’t killed in the year that I’ve had them. I don’t think it’s green, but it might have a slightly green tint to it!

3. What’s your favorite kind of salad? I love Ceasar salads. I love Cobb salads. I love green salads. I love spinach salads. I love chicken salad. I love egg salad. (If they’re made with Miracle Whip, not mayo!) I guess I like a lot of salads … mmm for salad.

4. Do you get seasick? I have only been on a few boats in my life and haven’t ever been seasick while on them. However, if I have a migraine and am in the car, I can get carsick pretty easily. Also, if I ride backwards on public transportation I will end up feeling icky and want to barf.

5. Are you a fan of the “Shrek” movies? Have you gone to see the third one? I own the first two Shrek movies, but haven’t seen the third one yet. Puss is probably my favorite character. He and his eyes make me laaaaugh!

i'm talking nonsense, i'm watchin' it, i'm writing, i'm laughing

Date of the Week

Well, Mr.E. wins the date of the week award. : ) He is never boring to me and we had a great time last night. I showed up at his house and he answered the door in his underwear (and he looks good in his underwear, so that was a nice welcome). After he got dressed we went down to NW 23rd and had pizza and a beer at a little place off the main drag. We had good conversation (about growing up) and then we walked about 10 blocks West and then 10 blogs East to spend some time outside (it was overcast, but still nice to walk in) and we talked the entire way. We debated getting another pizza before nixing that idea and talking about childhood television shows we watched (and the strange names that we called them rather than their real names) all the way home.

Mr.E. actually had to stop at the grocery store for lunch foods and so he dragged me grocery shopping with him … where he proceeded to buy mayonnaise, lunch meat and eggs … but it took us 15 minutes to do this. I hate grocery shopping and I hate mayo so it was a hysterical discussion about how gross mayo (and pickles) are to me. After the grocery store we went back to his house and spent the next two hours laughing through Hellboy and then through the Gerald McBoing-Boing cartoons. I’d buy the movie just to have those cartoons!

Things in the physicality department are, once again, hot between us. I was pleasantly surprised when I got butterflies again when there was physical contact. That sounds silly, and it’s weird for me to be writing about it, but we’re all friends here … and it happens. LOL I stayed the night with him (but things were only rated PG-13) and we talked until we were both too tired to talk. We fell asleep holding hands … which I am a complete sucker for. *le sigh* TWIT.erpated.

He was equally affectionate when we got up this morning (SIX THIRTY!) and we had more conversation about mayo while he was making his lunch. It was amusing and made me feel good … and I thought I was going to have a great day … it started out that way!

I came home, put on my running clothes (!!!!!) and went out for a short-ish run. I only made it about 4 miles before my new shoes started rubbing my foot funny and I knew I’d develop a blister, so I came back home. MissPea was (strangely) still sleeping and so I did some stretching and then surfed the internet a bit. I learned, on accident, who the X is dating and things went downhill quickly from there. I ended up getting in bed, bawling for a while and then falling asleep. I was supposed to go see Mama and BabyDee this early afternoon, but I was so upset even when I woke up (again) that I called her, whined to her about my situation (another reason I love my best friend … she has a week-old baby and she’ll still listen to me whine about my emotional problems!) and then we rescheduled for tomorrow.

Tonight MissBuckeye is coming over to watch Grey’s Anatomy with me since MissPea is picking up her brother (he is done with school and heading home to Alaska on Saturday) and I don’t like to watch it alone. I figure I’ll bawl (again) and can see Buckeye before we plan for our weekend.

What the French toast!?

So, I’ve recruited some new visitors thanks to them searching for the Orbit gum commercial that I wrote about a few entries back! Well guess what guys, I found the video online!!!! Now when people look for the raspberry mint (which is tasty, btw) commercial, they may get pointed here! To the two of you who found me by that original search, this vid’s for you!

For the rest of you, I tell you (AGAIN!) to go watch Will Ferrell meets his landlord! The “outtakes” of Pearl have even been released and are as equally as funny if you’re interested.

My date last night was. Yes, it just was. The guy is smart, he is kind, he bought dinner (and my margarita) but all he talked about was his job! I got bored pretty quickly and drank my margarita a little quicker than normal because I thought that would make him more entertaining. Sadly, it didnt. : ( No, really. We rented Little Miss Sunshine since he hadn’t seen it, and while we had some great laughs (I laughed so hard I cried, again), he was pretty boring. If he calls again I may give him another chance, but really, it wasn’t that fun. I’m seeing Mr.E. tonight … we’re going to have dinner and spend some time outside since it’s been so nice in Portland lately. (Did ya’ll know I live in Portland? ;)) I’m looking forward to seeing him … last time we were together there was quite a steamy kiss involved … I got BUTTERFLIES people … after I write about getting over him and being done things get spicy. I dunno! Dating is lame!

Tomorrow night MissBuckeye and I are having dinner and then we’re coming back to MY house (we always go to her house!) to watch the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. I’m excited to hang out with her. Her parents have been in town for about a week now so she’s been entertaining them. MissBee is in Ohio visiting her family and so Buckeye and I are on our own to entertain ourselves. I’m sure we can handle it. (This weekend we’re going to an art walk where I will stealthily meet Mr.E.’s mom who is IN the art walk. bwahahahah)

I need to start working out again. I haven’t been doing what I need to in order to lose some weight. Mal, I’d love to work out with you. Which Y do you work out at? Free is always great … so a free pass to check it out could be fun! I don’t think that’d be stalker-ish at all and it could turn into great motivation for the both of us! Let me know; you know where to find me! (not so) Mad, I don’t need to lose a lot of weight, but I do have some pants that aren’t fitting comfortably. I stopped running and gained about 10 or 15 pounds and so that’s all I’d ultimately like to lose. Thank you for the compliment. : )

MissPea made coffee this morning and I think, after drinking a cup of it, I now have hair on my chest. I don’t think that’ll be attractive for my date this evening, must remember to plug in my electric razor. ; )

Oh, and I figured out how I’m going to respond to comments … I’m going to address them IN the comments section in groups as they show up. I’ll talk back to you there, so if you ask me a question, I’ll write to you in a comment … but I don’t think that YOU can see the comments as I reply so if you really want to see my response, you’ll have to check the comments section.

loves to you all

Who are you calling a cootie queen, you lint licker!

I just ate some chicken noodle soup. I wish it were homemade with vegetables and thick egg noodles, but it was just canned Albertson’s stuff.

I got my official acceptance letter from Portland State yesterday. I also was accepted at Oregon State (go Beavs!) but since I already have a degree from OSU, I’m sticking with Portland. School starts on September 24th and I’m already counting down. No, seriously. I’ve already been scanning stuff for studying abroad as well.

Last night some friends and I went to an arcade that served beer and lets bands play. The bands last night were AWFUL (think bad American Idol auditions) but playing Tetris, Ms. PacMan and Pole Position with a Black Butte Porter (and later a PBR) in hand was a blast. Serious fun. I stayed out much too late but had a good time and Mr.E even let me stomp in the puddles (soaking my pants and my super-cute shoes) on the way back to his car.

My friends and I have been watching this Will Ferrell video; The Landlord over and over lately. Every time I need to laugh about something, I pull up this video and just laugh my ass off at it. Seriously, I am going to teach my children to say things like Pearl does. HI-larious. No, really; I will teach my children to ask for their liquids with “I need to get my drink on!”

Rolling Stone’s Rock & Roll Daily blog was great today. I don’t normally read that blog, but today’s post with Top 25 Songs with a Secret listed was both amusing and informative. ““Lola” – The Kinks: Thought to be about a beautiful woman, actually inspired by an incident in which Kinks’ manager Robert Wace spent a drunken night dancing with a transvestite he mistook for a woman.”

Have you seen the latest Orbit commercial? That’s where my subject line is from; the way the woman says “lint licker” always makes me giggle. The commercial makes me smile and the raspberry mint flavored gum is pretty good, too. I found the video for those of you who have found me through searching FOR the video!

I figured out how to put up a site-meter yesterday. Now I can stalk all of you who read about me. I need a life sometimes … yeah, I think that’s about it for today.

I sound like a man!

I sound like a man … and I don’t normally … I swear. I am officially coming down with something … something that has my throat raw and vocal chords sore. I sound like Marlena Dietrich … or a man … whichever sounds less sexy to you.

I missed work today because I feel like junk, which means that my last week at work I will have only worked three full days. Honestly I don’t care though becuase I’m done.

My nannying job may be falling through but I am back to agressively applying elsewhere in hopes of getting interviewed & hired somewhere better for my mental status.

For two days I have been compliant in taking my meds … my brain doesn’t hurt so badly today … which is good … so I’ll keep up on that so that I don’t sink back into my depressive state. It’s frustrating to be dependent on meds but I know I need them … it’s not just a situational thing in my life.

LOST starts in 10 minutes and I’m ready to see what we have going on tonight. I think I hear MissP coming home right now, too. Yay for company.

The New Girl!

10 Random Facts about MizGee

1. I love The Last Kiss soundtrack. I listen to it at least once a day all the way through. My favorite song on it is Paperweight by Schuyler Fisk & Joshua Radin. Zach Braff has amazing taste in music and I am constantly impressed by his musical choices.

2. I participate in National Novel Writing Month every year. I have three novel(las) written. None of them have seen the light of day since I wrote them, but they are out there for me. It’s March now … I have more than six months to get novel #4 mentally planned.

3. I speak three languages; English, German and Russian. I have a degree in German, and to earn that degree I had to take two years of another language … I can’t go for the easy ones so I chose Russian. I pick up foreign languages really easily and am looking forward to getting back into school (September) to pick up another language while I’m there.

4. I am obsessed with LOST. No, really. I have seen every single episode at least once, and many of them two or three times. I am normally very easily distracted, unless LOST is on my TV. My first real celebrity crush was Matthew Fox, and now it’s Josh Holloway, on top of a great show, the LOST boys make a great show for me!

5. I am 24 and divorced. Yes, four & twenty years old. I married my high school sweetheart after dating him for 6 years. It wasn’t right for us and we had an amicable divorce. He was my best friend but we’re growing apart as we’re growing up without one another now. I am proud of who I am becoming. I am getting back on the dating scene and will probably mention MrE every once in a while. He’s the guy that I’ve been seeing quite a bit of lately. I like him.

6. Back to music … I have a very wide variety of music that I frequently listen to. I just set up my iTunes to do the “Party Shuffle” with the “Top 25 Most Played” songs to show you what I mean. Get ready for a giggle.
- Today: Joshua Radin
- Rose of My Heart: Johnny Cash (my favorite JC song)
- Bad Day: Daniel Powter
- Black Horse & the Cherry Tree: KT Tunstall
- Paperweight: Shuyler Fisk & Joshua Radin
- Come Sail Away: Styx
- It Ain’t Me Babe: Joaquin Phoenix & Reese Witherspoon (from the Walk the Line soundtrack)
- The Beauty in Ugly (Ugly Betty Version): Jason Mraz
- I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles): The Proclaimers
I will listen to anything once and there are very few musicians that I don’t like (The Gorillaz … the first one that popped into my head) and there are very few types of music I don’t like (screaming metal garbage). I grew up listening to classic rock and Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band of all time. My favorite song of all time is Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.

7. I ran when I was younger, then ran in junior high, then in high school, but once I got to college I stopped. I don’t really know why, but I did. I have recently gotten back into it and am realizing how badly I’ve missed running. As a Pacific North Westerner I have always run in the rain and so it doesn’t scare me to even start during one of the rainiest months we’ve had this year! I am hoping to get into shape enough to run my first 5- or 10k this summer sometime. I’ll probably use journaling as a way to keep track of how (and what) I’m doing.

8. I love college football and basketball; especially my Pac-10 teams. I went to a Pac-10 school for my undergrad studies and they taught me that college football is FUN! This year was the second year that I played with the NCAA brackets for basketball finals, and while I’m not very good (because I’ve just recently gotten into basketball) I had fun picking & choosing. I’m all for Ohio State winning the National Championship this coming Sunday! O! H!

9. My toenails are always painted. ALWAYS. I think they look ugly without polish on them so I always have color on them. Normally it’s a bright pink or a dark plum color. They are never naked. Along this same line, I hate socks, so I wear flip flops almost year round. If my feet wouldn’t hurt, I would run in flip flops! Even in the rain I will wear my flips!

10. If I had to live the rest of my life on one type of food, it would be soup. I could easily feed myself for life with the variety of soups that are available to us. I love soup. I work with a woman who doesn’t like soup and I am utterly confused by that fact. I eat soup almost every day for lunch, and she has a salad (which I’m not a huge fan of) almost every day. We are quite the pair. My favorite soup is my Grandpa K’s bean soup. He gave me the recipe for it but mine still won’t turn out as good as his does! Maybe one day!
