Thursday Thirteen Banner

Over the weekend that I spent with TheEx’s parents (who I love dearly, still) MamaX and I talked a bit about what we’d do if we were insanely wealthy. I figured that since another friend did this TT last week (or was it the week before last?) I could do it, too!

13 Things I’d Do If I Were Insanely Wealthy
in no particular order
1. Travel! I want to visit a million different places, every continent on the Earth, and I want to meet a trillion new people. The first place I’d go would be Greece; I can’t wait to go to Greece.

2. Buy a new car! My dream car, growing up was always a Mercedes C230 but now I think I’d love to have a hybrid XTerra so I could drive up the mountain to ski.

3. Buy a house here in Portland. I want a house that I can call my own and not pay anyone else just to live in their place. I want something with a lot of room and then I will spend money on number 4.

4. I’d pay a maid to clean my big ‘ol house!

5. Because I’d be doing all this traveling, I’d have to buy the coolest camera out there. If it were right now, I’d just buy …

6. … the fanciest and coolest lenses for my baby Flicka.

7. I’d keep going to school. I’d go to school forever if there were no money involved. I love to learn!

8. I’d pamper myself regularly. I love to have massages, get manicures, pedicures, and all that jazz, but since I’m broke (and even when I have money I don’t “waste” it like that) I don’t pamper myself … so yeah, I’d do that … and take my friends.

9. I’d throw parties at my big ‘ol house all the time. Some I’d cook for and some I’d let be catered. I like to entertain and so it’d be fun.

10. Speaking of entertainment, I’d buy every movie, book and CD that I ever wanted, and I’d never live in silence! LOL

11. I would absolutely donate huge chunks of change to HIV/AIDS research. I am passionate about finding a cure or a prevention and so this would be a huge part of my life.

12. I’d go to Taco Bell whenever I wanted. I love Taco Bell.

13. I’d buy all my friends a gift that fit their personality … I love to give gifts. (Let me know what you’d like in case I ever do get really rich!)

Done

Mr. E. and I are done with. We’ve decided that we both want different things from a relationship and I’m not willing to wait for a(nother) man to (not) change. I spent 40 hours crying and being depressed and then decided to try and get over it. I had an hour-long adult conversation with him today to give things some closure and it did us both well; we feel much better about things. Since we’re in the same circle of friends, I’m sure that I’ll see him around, but there won’t be anymore romance between us. I learned a lot from this relationship and wouldn’t take it back but it hurt for a while.

I am in Castle Rock this weekend with the Ex’s parents. I love them to death and they treat me so well so I love to visit. Tomorrow I will be hiking Mount St. Helens and taking loads of photographs to share with ya’ll. I am doing it alone (don’t worry, it’s flat and easy and SAFE to do this) and REALLY looking forward to spending some time inside my own head again.

I missed my Thursday 13 due to working 12.5 hours yesterday so I’m going to do it later. Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow night. Either way I’ll be sharing something.

i'm dating, i'm working, i'm hanging out, i'm getting buff, i'm writing, i'm photographing, i'm thirteen

I have tried FOUR times now to copy Blue Monday and share 13 random links I have bookmarked but WordPress continues to spaz each time I do so you’re getting a to-do list anyway. *nods*

13 Things I’ll Do Before Thursday 13, VIII
1. sew more curtains for work (I’m almost done with the Ambassador Ballroom’s curtains but still have the Champion & the Blue ballrooms to do.)
2. see Mr.E. He actually asked me on a DATE for tomorrow night so we’re going to see Pirates of the Caribbean: World’s End and having a late Happy Hour tomorrow night.
3. see Willie Nelson in concert … at the Clark County Amphitheater on Saturday night with friends. I’m VERY excited about this!
4. hang out with my best friend MamaDee and her BabyDee (and probably DadDee) on Sunday night for dinner. She needs some entertainment and I need some lovin’ from my best friend!
5. Visit Cute Overload at least five times. I love that website and it always makes me smile!
6. go grocery shopping; I haven’t done this since I moved and I am OUT of food … time to grocery shop
7. call to get my contact prescription so I can ORDER more eyeballs
8. call ScubaSteve just to check in
9. start planning to sew my own curtains! Yes, I’m getting ambitious!
10. clean off my desk
11. double-check when I get to register for classes that start September 24th
12. burn photographs to CDs so that my laptop runs a bit faster
13. make a pro’s & con’s list about the boys that I’m currently dating & stuck between

Thirteen of My Favorite Pieces of Art
the-singing-butler.jpg
1. Jack Vettriano’s The Singing Butler - I own this one; my parents bought it for me for a wedding gift and even though the wedding didn’t last, this piece of art always makes me happy

dance-me-to-the-end-of-love.jpg
2. Jack Vettriano’s Dance Me To the End of Love - I own this one; it was another wedding gift from two married members of my wedding party. MrsDesigner wrote something amazingly beautiful on the back about our love lasting longer than the sands of time, and it makes me cry to re-read it, but this piece of art WILL dance me to the end of love.

jack-vettriano-back-where-you-belong-205014.jpg
3. Jack Vettriano’s Back Where You Belong - I own this one; TheEx gave it to me for a birthday present one year. (Do you see a theme with these yet?) I always hang this one near the door of where I live. One day I will be lifted up by my man like this and be back where I belong.

jack-vettriano-the-waltzers-205010.jpg
4. Jack Vettriano’s The Watlzers - I own this one; TheEx gave it to me for the last birthday that I spent with him. It is beautiful and I love to dance, so I am happy with this one.

van-gogh-vincent-starry-night-7900683.jpg
5. V. VanGogh’s Starry Night - has always been in my favorites list … one day I will own a huge print of this and hang it somewhere special.

010_e4.jpg
6. M.C. Escher’s “Three Worlds”; look, you really can see three worlds in this piece!

okeef_whiteroseandlarkspur.jpg
7. Georgia O’Keef’s White Rose & Larkspur; yes, all her flowers look like vaginas, but hey, they’re gorgeous vaginas! (Wow, I can’t wait to see my searching stats for this line!)

adams_oak.jpg
8. Ansel Adams’ Oak Tree, Sunset City; inspires me and my own tree-photography. Gorgeous tree.

21094.jpg
9. The Great Wave at Kanagawa; I’m not normally a fan of this style of art, but I would never turn away owning this piece for my bathroom.

take-five-print-c10051207.jpeg
10. Steve Hanks’ Take Five; I danced ballet for a couple of years and so ballet art always draws me in. This piece makes me want to dance again, and then take five to rest. : )

leonard_cohen.jpg
11. Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen; this is my favorite song in my entire life. I can never get enough of this song, listen to it all the time, and even love most of the covers that are done by other artists.

fleetwoodmacc1.jpg
12. Fleetwood Mac; my favorite band of all time. I listen to them while I’m driving, while I’m reading, while I’m writing, while I’m getting ready to go to sleep, anytime is time for Mac!

rah.jpg
13. Roots by Alex Haley; amazing book. It’s one of those books I can read over and over and over again. I’ve never watched the movie version because I must keep my own Kunte Kinte in my head.

Thursday Thirteen, V

Five weeks in a row, bitches! (yes, I just called ya’ll bitches … deal with it, I’m in a feisty mood!)

thursdaybanner16.png

13 things I LOVE doing

1. writing - I write about everything … there is nothing I won’t write about. It is my escape, my savior, my solace, and my first true love. I have been published, am published in three places on the Internet (woo hoo!) and love to write. I participate in National Novel Writing Month every year and complete something every year!

2. reading - I read about everything … there is nothing I won’t read about. It is my escape, my savior, my solace and my other first true love. (Sound familiar?) I always am in the middle of a book, can’t sleep without reading a book, and keep track of the books that I’m reading. I love to get book suggestions from friends, and am always willing to share about the books I’m reading with people. I share books for free with strangers, too! What are you reading?

3. eating - I love food. Seriously. I love food. Growing up, I lived with anorexia and bulimia, but now, I love to eat. Thank you babyJesus for anti-depressants. No, really; that’s what made me eat. They did it on purpose. I still struggle with the fact that I’m not 100 pounds (and couldn’t be, even dead), but I think that food tastes marvelous. I will try anything once, and try things that I don’t like (mushrooms in particular) every once in a while again to see if I like it. I do love food, though.

4. traveling - one of my life’s goals is to visit every continent on the planet. I love to travel by foot, by bike, my car, by bus, by train (esp, by train!), by boat and by plane. I only get sick if I have a migraine and I’m put in the backseat of a car, or backwards on a train/bus/etc. I love seeing new things, meeting new people, learning new languages, understanding new cultures, and all the stuff that goes along with traveling. I believe that people’s true personalities come out while they’re traveling and think everyone should travel with their seriouso before they marry them!

5. drinking - yes, I love to drink. I drink a lot. I am sometimes irresponsible when I drink. Sometimes I lose things, sometimes I hurt myself, sometimes I get overly obnoxious, but I always enjoy myself. My favorite beer is Black Butte Porter. I won’t turn down a beer, but I will peck a person if they buy me a BBP! My favorite hard alcohol drink is a Midori Sour. I also like some wines, including a wine from McMenamins Edgefield.

6. listening to music - I constantly have music going. My LastFM profile hasn’t been working yet, but I always have music going. Right now I’m listening to Keith & the Girl, and they are my favorite podcast. (They make me LAUGH!) I love music, love to learn about NEW artists, and love to share my favorite artists (lately they’ve been Ingrid Michaelson, Courtney Jones and Kris Delmhorst, in case anyone cares) with those willing to listen! I particularly like solo artists with their pianos or their guitars and love acoustic music and cover songs!

7. making lists - seriously. I love crossing things off of lists too.

8. watching movies - my favorite Friday Night Activity (yes, that deserves a set of capital letters) is watching a movie with someone I enjoy. (Mr.E. owns a zillion and a half movies and loves to watch them, too … we make a great FNA couple … but other than that … WAIT! this may be an entire list elsewhere!) My favorite movie is Garden State and I could watch it over and over and over again without being bothered by the repetition. When I have a migraine, I love to watch Mary Poppins as it makes me happy. I laugh my ass off (ooooh, I said bitch AND ass in the same post!) every time I watch Anchorman, too.

9. texting people - if you don’t have Verizon and the unlimited plan, please don’t start texting me. I love texting people … and I spell EVERYTHING out, still. : )

10. taking photographs - I take photographs of everything. If I’m in them, I don’t post the links here, as I currently enjoy remaining anonymous, but I take pictures of everything. Today, in fact, I took a picture of my first and only (so far) tattoo. Want to see more pictures, tell me WHAT to take pictures of and I’ll share!

11. even numbering - which means #11 is not fun for me

12. skiing - I’m not very athletic, and while I run, I don’t do competitive sports … give me something I can do ALONE and I’ll thrive in that environment. I love to ski because of that. I can go alone, I can listen to JUST the “whoosh” of the snow, I can sit silently on the lifts and enjoy the nothingness that is going on, and I love it. Seriously. Wanna ski; lets go.

13. watching dance on TV - what else is there to explain here … I love to watch dancing on TV. Ballet. Jazz. Tap. all types of Ballroom. I religiously watch So You Think You Can Dance and talk about it the next day (today and tomorrow) with my bosses (since they are professional ballroom dancers!) and we love it. I am a nerd.

Thirteen Things about MizGee

Thirteen Favorite Foods
(only in the order that they came to mind, not preference)
1. tomatoes - big huge beefsteak tomatoes, little itty-bitty cherry tomatoes, in-between romas, the purple and orange heirlooms, I love them all. (I do not, however, like tomato based soups/sauces/etc.)
2. asparagus - grilled, not boiled, please … with a little bit of olive oil and I’m yours … and my pee never smells funny afterwards!
3. black olives - my cousin Nick & I exchange a can of black olives with one another each Christmas since we used to fight over who got the last olive at dinner!
4. French fries - I especially love the cross-cut fries and those with the skin left on … sometimes I’ll even use ketchup on them, but normally mustard. Speaking of …
5. mustard - I’ve NEVER met a mustard I didn’t like. I try mustard where ever I go to eat. Most of the time it’s plain ‘ol French’s, and I can use that, but I love fancy mustard!
6. cheese - the stronger, the better. The only cheese I’ve tried and not liked has been pepperjack cheese … which my friends think is insane, but I like PURE cheese!
7. bacon - I like bacon as more than a friend. The thicker the slices, the better. Mmmm, bacon.
8. bean soup - I could live off of bean soup, especially if my grandfather makes it. My aunt teases him now when he makes it “I’m telling MizGee that you’re making soup without her!” becuase I’m so in love with his soup!
9. sourdough bread - people who don’t like sourdough bread confuse me … seriously, how can you NOT like this stuff? The tang, the soft insides, the hard crust, oh, sourdough how I love thee.
10. pulled pork - I’m not a huge BBQ sauce fan, but if you take apart some pork, slather it in BBQ sauce and then smoosh it between a hamburger bun, I’m there with bells on ready to eat!
11. sour candies - sour Jelly Belly’s, Sour Patch Kids, sour gummy worms, sour gummy bears, Sour Straws, I love ‘em all. I am a fan of citric acid, apparently!
12. mashed potatoes - I like the real kind, I like the instant kind, I like them plain, I like them loaded, I like mashed potatoes.
13. raspberries - growing up I was the little kid who would pick one and eat two. My gramma used to pay me NOT to eat the raspberries when she’d send me out to pick them. This is probably one of the only fruits I can say that I love!

Thursday Thirteen

Yay for Thursdays!

I’ve always been a dreamer, and so I’ve had some pretty lofty goals in life. I figured I could write down 13 of them this week in order to put some in concrete.

13 Life Goals
1. become a doctor - this may not ever be a medical doctor, but I want to have my Ph.D. and be Dr.Gee one day
2. get married - I did this once and it didn’t quite work out the way that I wanted it to, so I hope to try again
3. give birth naturally - my mom did it twice, my gramma (hero!) did it eight times, my great gramma did it 14 times, I can do it, too!
4. visit every continent on the Earth - I think this would be fantastically cool!
5. have some of my fiction writing published - and not on my blog! LOL
6. have a photograph published somewhere - this means I’m famous! bwahaha : )
7. own a house and have a red room
8. hold my own in five languages - right now I have two … I can handle another three!
9. get another tattoo that means something to me
10. run a marathon - yay! I can do about five miles now … only need to add 21 more to that!
11. read all of Margaret Atwood’s books - she is among the top five of my favorite authors and so I figure I need to do this
12. hand make every single Christmas gift I give at least once
13. write my life story to give to my children

Thursday Thirteen

I’m doing my first Thursday Thirteen today! : ) I love lists so why not do it?

The Thirteen Most Listened to Songs from Horatio*

1. Paperweight - Joshua Radin & Schuyler Fisk (it turned into my favorite song after listening to it on The Last Kiss soundtrack)
2. Let Him Fly - Patty Griffin (through my divorce, this song was one of the only songs that kicked my ass through it … no really … it did)
3. What’s Left of Me - Nick Lachey (another song from my “breakups suck” playlist … I fall asleep to this playlist at least once a week)
4. Goodbye My Lover - James Blunt (from the “bs” PL, I love this song though and can listen (and sing along badly) to it with no problem)
5. All I Need - Mat Kearney (this is my MySpace song … becuase I want a man to dedicate this to me, or sing it to me, or put it on a playlist for me!)
6. Long Goodbye - Tina Dico (Tina Dico was introduced to me from a friend thanks to my “breakups suck” playlist and I love both of these songs here)
7. In the Red - Tina Dico
8. Don’t Do Me Like That - Tom Petty (I grew up listening to Tom and this song is comforting to me.)
9. A Sorta Fairytale - Tori Amos (”and i’m so sad, like a good book, i can’t put this day back, a sorta fairytale, with you, a sorta fairytale, with you” … best breakup son evAr!)
10. Star Mile - Joshua Radin (another song from The Last Kiss soundtrack that I adore)
11. Bullet - Mat Kearney (it’s the second song on the Mat Kearney album and since I fall asleep to this album all the time, it seems appropriate that it’s on the top 13 list!)
12. The Drugs Don’t Work - Ben Harper (I don’t know why this song is on the list. I can’t even hum the melody as I’m sitting here and I don’t know any of the words … it must be one of the ones on the “breakups suck” playlist that plays while I’m asleep)
13. Missing You - Imogen Heap (duh … let me just say; breakups suck! “You see i thought i’d found the love i’d have forever…”
