Piss (and vinegar?)

I can’t get into my Gmail. Gmail notifier says I have THIRTY TWO emails sitting there waiting for me, but it won’t load. I am grouchy about that. Maybe I’ll try using *gag* IE instead of my beloved Firefox to check it out. We’ll see what happens.

I am watching the Diana concert on VH1 right now and didn’t really mean to start watching it, but now I’m hooked. I don’t even like PDiddy and am actually really happy with his performance right now. I can’t imagine being Prince William or Harry and being there to watch this. I would be bawling.

I saw POTC: At World’s End on Friday night with Mr.E.. I loved it. I almost cried. Then I was introduced to some of Mr.E.’s friends later who were great people and I really enjoyed myself. I should probably write an NC-17 post about the events that occurred later because I have to share them with somebody and that somebody gets to be you!

I saw Willie Nelson last night. It was simply the. most. amazing. concert I’ve ever seen. I was blown away. I am going to write an entire post about it because I was inspired by Willie Nelson. That man is intense and impressive.

we all live in a yellow submarine

Did any of you Portlanders see the Grand Floral Parade yesterday?
Did any of you see the lunatic “groupies” near the Beatles float?
I was one of those lunatics. I loved it.

However, if I never hear Yellow Submarine, Hard Day’s Night or Can’t Buy Me Love again, I’ll die a happy woman!

I love Saturdays!

I woke up this morning in a great mood. Why? you ask … well, let me tell you!

1. I heard from Son.E last night. The dance studio wants me to work for them!!!!!!! Son.E wanted to confirm the schedule I’d be willing to work (I am willing to work any day of the week and am flexible on hours. I would ultimately like to work Monday through Friday (or Tuesday through Saturday) from 7am until 3:30pm with a 1/2 an hour lunch somewhere in there. I prefer the mornings for working and would like to work consecutive days just to keep myself in a schedule.) and that I’d actually accept the job if officially offered. Of course I said yes. I expect to hear back from her in the next few days with the shedule (if everything meshes) and I’m THRILLED about that.

2. Today is my birthday BBQ. My MissBean called me yesterday morning to tell me that she was planning a BBQ, a pub crawl, a visit to the classiest strip club in Portland and then a birthday breakfast at our favorite northwest Portland resturant at 2am. I was ecstatic … I didn’t think anyone was going to do anything for my birthday, and I was okay with that, actually. But this is thrilling to me! Yay! So today I shall be hanging out with my friends and creating mayhem all. day. long. I will take pictures. *nods*

3. Tomorrow Mr.E. is taking me to the beach!!! I am SUPER-excited about that. I am going to take my camera (I love links!) and take heaps & tons of photographs with it. Anyway, Mr.E.’s parents have a beach house that we’re going to stay in (he reserved the house for the entire weekend … which makes me think he did it purposefully for my birthday … *swoon*). I love the beach. I haven’t been in a year. I adore playing on the rocks, building things with the sand, and just being 8-years-old all over again. Yippee for hanging out with the guy I really like. *blushes*

4. My birthday is on Tuesday. I will be 25. I have done a lot of shit in 25 years. I am proud of who I am at 25-years-old. I think I will wait to expound on this number until a later date (perhaps my birthday itself?).

5. Next weekend I am going to the beach AGAIN! This trip has me even more excited than this weekend’s trip. Where do I even start with this story? Let’s make it short KC and I met in 7th grade and we dated in 8th grade. In 9th grade he came out and in 10th grade he moved to Toledo, OR to finish school. I saw him in 2000 before he moved away to college. Then he moved to New York City … where he contracted HIV through IV drug use (don’t do drugs!). His husband moved him to London to get clean and they divorced 2 years later. KC moved back to New York City where he (and his pup Gage) have lived for the past 3 years. KC is coming home for his parent’s surprise 25th-anniversary party and I get to go with him! I get to see my KC and I get to spend ALL WEEKEND with my first love ever. I am SO insanely excited about this and I seriously am BOUNCING when I talk to him about it. I get to see his sister Dee and meet her man, and see his parents, and his grandparents, and I haven’t seen them in SEVEN YEARS! aaaaaahhhhh! (that is me being absolutely totally insanely excited, btw!)

6. I made an amazing pot of coffee this morning. I don’t know what came over me, but I was wide awake at 7:30am and then got out of bed around 8:30am … and made the most amazing pot of coffee evAr. I love it. Huge mug + two Splendas + quarter cup of 1% milk = fantabulous cup of wake-up-juice! Mmm mmm good; anyone want some, I have extra I probably shouldn’t drink. LOL

7. MissZoot: 1. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!!! 2. Are we ever going to be able to use Technorati tags in our blogs? 3. Yay for babies!!!! *grins*

8. I need some new music. Anyone want to send me a mixed CD with their favorite stuff on it? I’ll give you my address and make you a mixed CD in return! Let’s do a mixed CD exchange!!!

Whoo hoo!

So there is good news and bad news. Which do you want first? Okay, too bad you don’t have a choice!

Bad news: I got FIRED from my nannying job. I am now unemployed … again! They apparently found someone who will work for less than I will, and so they FIRED me. After five whole days of working for them they FIRED me. I was livid yesterday when they told me but I can’t concentrate on my anger so I’m done. Now I’ll just spend my days on CraigsList.org in hopes of finding something perfect for me.

Good news:

Thanks to you guys, I am the top referrer on my Portland Blog!!! This is great for me and great for the blog! This reassures my employers there that I know what I’m doing! Please, pass on the link to people … you link me and I’ll link you! : ) We can have a big ‘ol linkin (log?) party!

I now have four LastFM friends. I feel cool. LOL Mad, I wasn’t a joiner in high school either … but this LastFM thing is pretty neat. It’s tracking all my stuff from iTunes even! I figured out how to add a widget to my information and so it’s on my music page now, too. I feel super-cool. It takes very little people, very little.

I need to spend some time looking into Digg, too. Then I shall tell you all about how cool that place is! That way when I write something cool, ya’ll can digg me! I’ll return later. I promise.

Last FM perhaps?

Are any of you LastFM members? I joined today and have been enjoying seeing what other music tastes match what I’ve already listened to and what I really enjoy listening to. If you’re a member, you should also be my friend there, that would make me feel cool.

Thursday Thirteen

I’m doing my first Thursday Thirteen today! : ) I love lists so why not do it?

The Thirteen Most Listened to Songs from Horatio*

1. Paperweight - Joshua Radin & Schuyler Fisk (it turned into my favorite song after listening to it on The Last Kiss soundtrack)
2. Let Him Fly - Patty Griffin (through my divorce, this song was one of the only songs that kicked my ass through it … no really … it did)
3. What’s Left of Me - Nick Lachey (another song from my “breakups suck” playlist … I fall asleep to this playlist at least once a week)
4. Goodbye My Lover - James Blunt (from the “bs” PL, I love this song though and can listen (and sing along badly) to it with no problem)
5. All I Need - Mat Kearney (this is my MySpace song … becuase I want a man to dedicate this to me, or sing it to me, or put it on a playlist for me!)
6. Long Goodbye - Tina Dico (Tina Dico was introduced to me from a friend thanks to my “breakups suck” playlist and I love both of these songs here)
7. In the Red - Tina Dico
8. Don’t Do Me Like That - Tom Petty (I grew up listening to Tom and this song is comforting to me.)
9. A Sorta Fairytale - Tori Amos (”and i’m so sad, like a good book, i can’t put this day back, a sorta fairytale, with you, a sorta fairytale, with you” … best breakup son evAr!)
10. Star Mile - Joshua Radin (another song from The Last Kiss soundtrack that I adore)
11. Bullet - Mat Kearney (it’s the second song on the Mat Kearney album and since I fall asleep to this album all the time, it seems appropriate that it’s on the top 13 list!)
12. The Drugs Don’t Work - Ben Harper (I don’t know why this song is on the list. I can’t even hum the melody as I’m sitting here and I don’t know any of the words … it must be one of the ones on the “breakups suck” playlist that plays while I’m asleep)
13. Missing You - Imogen Heap (duh … let me just say; breakups suck! “You see i thought i’d found the love i’d have forever…”

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

*Horatio = iPod (I have this weird tendency to NAME inanimate objects in my life.)

Who are you calling a cootie queen, you lint licker!

I just ate some chicken noodle soup. I wish it were homemade with vegetables and thick egg noodles, but it was just canned Albertson’s stuff.

I got my official acceptance letter from Portland State yesterday. I also was accepted at Oregon State (go Beavs!) but since I already have a degree from OSU, I’m sticking with Portland. School starts on September 24th and I’m already counting down. No, seriously. I’ve already been scanning stuff for studying abroad as well.

Last night some friends and I went to an arcade that served beer and lets bands play. The bands last night were AWFUL (think bad American Idol auditions) but playing Tetris, Ms. PacMan and Pole Position with a Black Butte Porter (and later a PBR) in hand was a blast. Serious fun. I stayed out much too late but had a good time and Mr.E even let me stomp in the puddles (soaking my pants and my super-cute shoes) on the way back to his car.

My friends and I have been watching this Will Ferrell video; The Landlord over and over lately. Every time I need to laugh about something, I pull up this video and just laugh my ass off at it. Seriously, I am going to teach my children to say things like Pearl does. HI-larious. No, really; I will teach my children to ask for their liquids with “I need to get my drink on!”

Rolling Stone’s Rock & Roll Daily blog was great today. I don’t normally read that blog, but today’s post with Top 25 Songs with a Secret listed was both amusing and informative. ““Lola” – The Kinks: Thought to be about a beautiful woman, actually inspired by an incident in which Kinks’ manager Robert Wace spent a drunken night dancing with a transvestite he mistook for a woman.”

Have you seen the latest Orbit commercial? That’s where my subject line is from; the way the woman says “lint licker” always makes me giggle. The commercial makes me smile and the raspberry mint flavored gum is pretty good, too. I found the video for those of you who have found me through searching FOR the video!

I figured out how to put up a site-meter yesterday. Now I can stalk all of you who read about me. I need a life sometimes … yeah, I think that’s about it for today.

Maybe

… I’ll clean my room today.
… tomorrow I’ll sleep so my neck doesn’t hurt in the morning.
… I won’t drink TWO cups of coffee tomorrow.
… someone will hug me today.
… I will learn to play the kazoo this year.
Grey’s Anatomy will make me bawl tonight. (This is more of a for-sure, instead of a maybe, though.)
Courtney Jones will stop making me want to simutaneously cry and cheer myself on with her music.
… the Duck practice football game this weekend will be worth it.
Mad will move to Oregon to profess his undying love for me.
… I should never drink TWO cups of coffee again.

tired of feeling everything slippin’ through my fists

I saw a Courtney Jones on Friday night at Borders and really enjoyed myself. She is a beautiful musician and I have been listening to both of her CDs essentially non-stop since Friday evening. I went alone and read photography magazines while I listened. I think, if you’re into Sarah McLachlan (or Norah Jones, Dido, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel, or evevn U2), you’d like her music as well. Very introspective lyrics and calming music … I even got to meet her during the intermission of the show and she signed both of my CDs! If you want to check her out, she (like everybody and their grandmother’s dog) has a MySpace, too. (So do I if you are interested in being MySpace friends. : )

After the music I met Mr.E for Blades of Glory and we laughed. A. Lot. I am way into Will Ferrell and his stupid humor … and it was worth the hour & a half of sitting. Then he came back to the house and he, MissPee and I watched Borat (my gosh that’s an obnoxious movie) and stayed up until 5AM (AM!!!) talking. It was quite fun.

The rest of the day was be low-key and energy-saving since I had planned on spending today with my nanny-family. MomC, DadE, MrT (3) andMrArrr (1). We went to play at OMSI. MomC and I had a long conversation today about “why I seem flaky” (her words, not mine) and I understand a bit more what’s going on with their family. I asked her to just be open about her needs from me and I’d do the same with them; she was very receptive to my requests and I’m thankful for that.

The RTG (one of the places I interviewed on Tuesday) called me Friday to schedule my broker-interview for Tuesday. They also received my thank-you note that I mailed them the day after my interview. MissK (the younger interviewer) was very flattered that I took notice of how to spell her name and whatnot and Jodi (the older interviewer who is another big-wig in the company) even got on the phone to thank me for “keeping an thorough and kind tradition” going. She said that I was the only person who sent a thank-you-for-the-interview note. I was boggled! I thought it was standard, but twice now in life it’s set me apart from other candidates so I will continue to do so! They want me part-time and the family wants me for about 30 hours … so I will be working a job & a half this summer.

School starts for me at Portland State University September 24th and I’m already looking forward to that new/fresh start. I don’t even know exactly what classes I’ll be taking, but I’ll be back in school. I am excited beyond belief that I get to stay in the Pacific Northwest with my friends (and family, even though we’re not incredibly close).

I’m about to open this blog up to people I know in real life … well, just two of them … which will be interesting. MissBean and MissWeen and I have been close friends since I was a sophomore in high school. We lived together in college and then we all moved away from one another. MissBean lives in Corvallis (go Beavers!) and MissWeen lives in Roseburg where we were all raised and first met. We are having a girl-get-together in two weeks and I’m already excited to see them! They are some of the best friends that I could ask for.

Oh, and I wanted to do a small shout-out to my new readers! Hi!! I will add your blogs to my links list that I have and check out your blogs today!!
